Homespun Happenings
from The Calico Shoppe
January - April 2010
Wishing you and your
families a very Healthy and Happy 2010! We would also like to take this time to Thank
You for your support and friendship throughout 2009! We are looking forward
to a wonderful new year of fun, inspiration and
creativity!
2009 was
our year of encouraging you to use up your stash of fabrics, which from all
accounts has proven to be quite successful. Your stash of fabrics has become
smaller and your piles of unfinished projects has become manageable! Good for
you! Our message was heard and taken to heart. It is a great feeling using up
some of our stash and getting those projects finished. We are now into 2010 and
with the new year comes a new challenge…
“2010
THE YEAR OF CREATIVITY“ Let your mind wander and your passion for creating go
WILD! Work outside your box, try that new technique you have been dieing to
explore. Work in a color palette which is not your norm. Try some of the new
contemporary fabrics, or grab some civil war prints,or 30’s fabrics. The
possibilities are endless. Let yourself go on a quilting adventure during 2010.
To help you with that creativity we have scheduled some terrific classes and
outstanding BOM (block of the month) projects. Relax, put your feet up and enjoy
browsing the newsletter. Then stop in to get a first hand look at the new and
exciting fabrics that are coming in and the wonderful samples for the up coming
classes and events!!
See you soon and Happy Quilting!

1 Million Pillowcase Challenge
Make a Pillowcase, Make a Difference
We have joined American Patchwork & Quilting Magazine to
help them collect 1 million pillowcases in 2010.
A pillowcase can provide comfort for a cancer patient, hope
for a foster child, or encouragement for a battered woman.
The best part is that all of the pillowcases we collect will be given to
charities in the Eau Claire area. To date we have collected over 40
pillowcases!!! Let’s keep up the good work. We will be collecting them through
the month of June.
Saturday, February 27th, from 10:00 -
4:00, we are having a pillowcase sew in. Bring your supplies and
sew pillowcases for a wonderful cause. There is no fee, just come and have fun!
Please register early, space is limited!
